Chinese Huawei announced on July 19 that it has signed an agreement with Japanese mobile operator eMobile, a wholly-owned subsidiary of eAccess. Based on the agreement, Huawei will initially supply eMobile with networking equipment to deploy Japan's first fully IP-based HSDPA network in major cities, including Sendai, Sapporo, and Hiroshima. Huawei will also provide equipment for a nationwide UMTS/HSDPA network which eMobile plans to set up.
